Manoel “Manny” Carvalho

Manoel “Manny” Carvalho is Director of Lab Operations at BostonSight.  As part of BostonSight’s executive team, Manny plays a key role in one of BostonSight’s core business units – manufacturing. Manny oversees the manufacturing of up to 18,000 scleral lenses and prosthetic devices per year, providing the highest quality products to BostonSight’s customer practitioners and patients.

To maintain BostonSight’s lab operations, Manny oversees a team of lab technicians, ensuring technical capability and adherence to best practices. He is responsible for ensuring the BostonSight lab remains in compliance with regulatory and affiliated state requirements such as ISO 13485:2012, and that all operations are performed in adherence to standard operating procedures, quality control regulations, and safety requirements.

With an eye on improving efficiency, Manny inspects, evaluates, and makes process improvement recommendations for BostonSight’s manufacturing lathes.  He is an expert with Precitech Nanoform and DAC high precision lathes, which can cut complex prosthetic device and scleral lens configurations to precise tolerances.

Manny is also a fitting consultant for BostonSight SCLERAL, BostonSight’s commercially available scleral lens product. As a fitting consultant, he works directly with customers across the globe and with FitConnect®, BostonSight’s online design and order management platform, to ensure customer satisfaction. FitConnect enables practitioners to design lenses for their patients and have them delivered the next day.

Manny has been with BostonSight for 14 years and is fluent in Portuguese.
