UAB - Faculty
Jennifer Craig, OD
I was born in Denver, CO, and moved to Birmingham, AL, at the age of seven when my father accepted a professor position at the UAB School of Engineering. I became interested in optometry during my undergraduate years, and my classmates and I helped found the UAB Pre-Optometry Club. I graduated summa cum laude from UAB in 2009 with a BS in Biology, and then I graduated from the UAB School of Optometry in 2013. I practiced in the Birmingham area for six years before deciding to join the faculty at the UAB School of Optometry.
I enjoy teaching in the Clinical Evaluation of the Visual System (CEVS) lab, where second-year optometry students learn all the necessary skills to perform a comprehensive eye exam. I lecture in the Contact Lens I course and serve as the course director for the Contact Lens II course. I also lead the clinical skills lab for international optometric students and serve as an attending in the Primary Care, Cornea & Contact Lens, and Specialty Contact Lens Clinics. Additionally, I am the faculty advisor for the Faculty Student Mentoring Club.
My husband and I live in Hoover, AL, with our two daughters, and I enjoy volunteering and singing in the choir at our church.
