Gary Mikaelian, Ph.D.

Dr. Gary Mikaelian got his PhD in Physics at the University of California, Irvine. During his graduate studies he built and studied many nanoscale structures, assembling them one atom and molecule at a time using a device called scanning tunneling microscope. After graduation, he came to realize that building things one atom at a time is not the most efficient way, and started employing more conventional methods. One of the highlights of his career was working as the US R&D manager at NIDEK, coming up with new ideas that will become eyecare instruments in the future. Now Gary is a co-founder and CEO at Hedgefog Research, and its new subsidiary EYEXY - the company behind the Gaudi Profilometer and the Gaudi scleral lenses.
