Anthony M. Caporali, NCLEC

Tony Caporali is a 28-year veteran of the contact lens industry and currently is the Director of Product Development with X-Cel Specialty Contacts. He began his contact lens career as a part time employee at a small RGP lab in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Progressing through the ranks he has held management positions in every aspect of the contact lens manufacturing industry including production, operations, customer service, consultation, and product development. He has been with X-Cel Specialty Contacts for the last 21 years.

Over the last 10 years Tony has used his vast product knowledge to “in office” assist practitioners in fitting over 400 CRT patients and currently over 1000 scleral lens patients. Tony has successfully developed and launched several specialty contact lens designs for irregular corneas as well as the ARC (Atypical Refraction Correction) lens design, the Atlantis Scleral design. These 2 unique lens designs have produced vision correction for over 200,000 successfully fit eyes. The latest lens design development is called the REMLens which is an orthokeratology/myopia management lens design utilized for myopes at a spherical -5.00 and under.

Tony is a frequent speaker for X-Cel Specialty Contacts covering all custom contact lens designs, fitting education, and case studies. He lives in Charlotte, MI, is interested in golf, running, exercise, travel, and cooking.
